What you'll study

Coursework and faculty mentorship are structured to support an original research agenda in dance; the terminal product is a dissertation that contributes new knowledge to the field. Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in dance or a related field (or be provisionally admitted while finishing a master’s). Admissions assess academic preparation for advanced study and research, written and verbal communication skills, and substantive experience in dance (teaching, performing, choreographing, or related practice). • Completed TWU PhD in Dance Questionnaire.
• Statement of Purpose (up to 3 pages) addressing fit with faculty and coursework, research interests and specialization, proposed research questions, expected skills and knowledge to be developed, and how the program supports career goals.
• Curriculum vitae documenting dance experience.
• A scholarly writing sample (about 20–25 pages) such as a journal article, thesis chapter, research paper, or conference paper.
• Contact information for three academic or artistic referees; recommendation requests are submitted through the application.
• Participation in an interview (in person or by phone) when requested.
