A two-year diploma that combines classroom study and practical projects to prepare students for entry-level roles in social welfare, child and family services, community development and counselling. Suited to applicants who want a foundation in social justice, human rights and pastoral-informed social care with options to work in government, NGOs or faith-based agencies.

Entry requirements

Applicants must meet the general Uganda Christian University admission rules and, specifically, hold UCE and UACE certificates with one Principal Pass and two Subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting. International applicants need qualifications recognised for university entry in their home country.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for a range of entry‑level roles in public and non‑profit sectors. Positions the programme lists include probation officer, social welfare officer, medical and clinical social worker, child protection officer, career adviser, charity officer, counsellor, social activist and youth or adult guidance worker.
