What you'll study

The curriculum integrates biblical hermeneutics and homiletics so that interpretation leads to life-changing proclamation. Key study areas and example courses include:

• Integrating Hermeneutics and Homiletics – stages of interpretation (contextual, grammatical, syntactical, historical, cultural) leading into sermon outline development and personal spiritual formation.
• Preaching the Biblical Genres – recognizing and interpreting Torah, Narrative, Poetry, Gospel, Epistolary, and Prophetic materials and how genre affects sermon construction.
• Variety in Preaching Approaches – planning and delivering Expository, Topical, Biblical-theological, Evangelistic, Doctrinal, Biographical, and Thematic sermons; studying exemplary preachers' methodologies.
• Communicating God’s Word / The Effective Communicator – delivery skills and best practices including spirit-led preaching, theology of persuasion, rhetorical devices, visual and aural elements, physical presentation, multisensory techniques, audience analysis, contextualization, creativity, and use of digital technologies (multi-cast, livestreaming, social media, podcasting).

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a Master of Divinity and have at least three years of ministry experience. Those with a Master of Arts in a theological or ministry field may be eligible but could require additional ministry experience. Admission requires official transcripts, a spiritual life reference, and for international applicants, TESOL scores and proof of financial support. Contact Admissions for details.
