This programme trains students in the technical, artistic and workflow aspects of contemporary cinematography. Instruction typically blends camera systems, lens optics, lighting design, on-set procedures, and postproduction image workflows so graduates can plan and execute professional shoots for narrative, documentary and commercial work.

What you'll study

• Camera systems and optics: operation of digital cinema cameras, sensor characteristics, lens selection and depth-of-field control.
• Lighting for motion picture: lighting design, color temperature, contrast control and practical solutions for different production scales.
• Production workflows: on-set protocols, exposure and color management, data wrangling and collaboration with grips, gaffers and camera assistants.
• Visual storytelling and composition: shot design, camera movement, framing, continuity and how cinematography supports narrative intent.
• Postproduction collaboration: understanding of color grading concepts, delivery formats and how cinematography choices affect editing and finishing.
• Setcraft and safety: working on professional sets, equipment rigging, crew roles and safe handling of lighting and camera gear.
