What you'll study

This degree balances intensive technique and repertory classes with academic coursework in choreography, history and dance science. Core studio work typically covers ballet, modern/contemporary technique, improvisation, partnering, and styles such as jazz and somatic practices. Choreographic studies emphasise composition, collaborative creation, and repertory development, with opportunities to realise solo and ensemble works.

• Production and Collaboration: lighting, costume and production practice, collaborative projects with music, theatre and design students.
• Capstone/Senior Project: an independent choreographic or performance project, often presented as part of a public concert or portfolio.

Study is delivered through a mix of daily studio classes, seminars, ensemble rehearsals and public performances. Students are encouraged to take electives across the university to support interdisciplinary work, such as courses in theatre, music, education, or arts management.

Entry requirements

Entry typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, academic transcripts and an audition demonstrating technical ability and artistic potential. Applicants should prepare a combination of technique and choreographic materials for the audition—this may include class work in modern and ballet and a short solo or movement study. A written personal statement outlining artistic goals and references (academic and/or artistic) are usually required.

Specific documentation for international applicants includes evidence of English language proficiency. Candidates from alternative training backgrounds are assessed on technical skill, creative promise and fit with the programme, and may be invited to an interview or additional audition.
