What you'll study

The MSW curriculum builds a foundation in social work values, ethics and practice skills before moving into advanced practice areas. Teaching combines core courses in human behaviour, social policy and research with skill-based courses and a sequence of supervised field practicums. Students study assessment, intervention, evaluation and advocacy across the lifespan, with attention to culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Students with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) may be eligible for advanced standing; applicants without a BSW will complete foundation-level coursework.

• A minimum undergraduate GPA consistent with graduate admission standards (applicants with lower GPAs may be considered on an individual basis)
• All applicants provide a personal statement outlining professional experience, goals and reasons for pursuing the MSW
• Academic transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
• One or more professional or academic references
• A current resume/CV detailing relevant paid or volunteer experience
• Successful completion of background checks, health clearance and any practicum-related requirements prior to field placement

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission; selection also considers relevant experience, fit with programme strengths and space in practicum placements.
