What you'll study

This master’s programme builds advanced nursing knowledge and skills across leadership, evidence-based practice and specialised clinical care. Core study areas commonly include advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, advanced health assessment, health policy and ethics, and research methods and statistics. From those foundations, students follow pathway-specific modules.

• Nursing Administration: organisational leadership, healthcare finance and budgeting, human resource management in nursing, quality improvement and patient safety, strategic planning and policy implementation.
• Nursing Research: research design and methodology, biostatistics, grant writing, implementation science, critical appraisal of clinical evidence and a capstone or thesis project involving original or applied research.
• Clinical Nursing: advanced clinical assessment and decision-making, speciality-focused practicum experiences, interprofessional care coordination, and courses that deepen clinical judgement and evidence-based interventions in the chosen area of practice.

Clinical practicum or mentored field experiences are a required element of the programme, enabling students to apply theory in acute, community or specialty settings. Elective options and simulation-based learning complement classroom and clinical hours to prepare nurses for immediate application in practice.

Entry requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) licence in good standing from the jurisdiction in which clinical placements will be completed.
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is the typical route; applicants with other backgrounds should consult the admissions office about bridge or post-licensure pathways.
• A competitive undergraduate GPA; specific GPA thresholds are set by the university and may vary by programme.
• Professional résumé or CV, a personal statement outlining career goals and reasons for pursuing the chosen pathway, and at least one or two professional or academic references.
• Some applicants may be invited to an interview. Relevant clinical experience is strongly recommended, particularly for clinical and administration pathways.
• International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency and satisfy any credential evaluation requirements for coursework completed outside the United States.
