What you'll study

This programme combines advanced research training with a substantive, supervised research project. Core study areas typically include research design and methods (quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods), biostatistics and data analysis, systematic literature review and evidence synthesis, research ethics and governance, and knowledge translation. The central component is an independent research thesis or portfolio that addresses a contemporary nursing or health services question under the guidance of academic supervisors.

Entry requirements

Typical entry requires a recognised undergraduate degree in nursing (or equivalent professional qualification) plus current registration as a nurse with the national registration authority. Applicants are normally expected to demonstrate research potential through previous honours, a postgraduate research qualification, professional research experience or relevant publications. Prospective students need to identify potential supervisors and submit a research proposal or statement of research interests as part of the application. International applicants must meet UTS English language requirements.
