What you'll study

This interdisciplinary programme combines visual art, theatre and music so you build technical skills, critical understanding and practical experience across media. You will take core courses that introduce foundation skills—drawing, two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, basic acting and performance skills, musicianship and music theory—before choosing more advanced, specialised modules.

• Foundation Studios: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Digital Media and Photography.
• Performance & Production: Acting, Voice and Movement, Scene Study, Music Ensemble, Stagecraft and Technical Theatre.
• Theory & Context: Art History, Theatre History, Contemporary Performance Practices, Music Appreciation and Criticism.
• Technology & Contemporary Practice: Digital audio and video production, sound design, lighting, and new media approaches to visual and performance work.
• Professional Practice: Arts management, grant writing, exhibition design, portfolio and audition preparation, and marketing for artists.
• Capstone & Experiential Learning: Final-year capstone project tailored to your focus (solo exhibition, recital, production or portfolio) plus opportunities for internships, community-engaged projects and collaborative performances.

Programme structure emphasises small seminars, studio practicums and ensemble work. Students typically balance required core modules with a selection of electives and may pursue a concentration or minor in a specific area. Regular critiques, public presentations and collaborative projects are built into course assessments.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold an accredited high-school diploma or equivalent. Albright seeks students with academic readiness and clear creative potential; a portfolio of artwork and/or an audition recording or live audition is normally required to demonstrate your practice and performance ability. Typical supporting materials include a personal statement outlining your artistic interests, two academic or character references, and high-school transcripts.

While there is no single fixed background required, successful applicants often have prior experience in one or more arts disciplines through classes, community programmes or extracurricular activities. Mature applicants and transfer students are welcome; transfer credit for previous college-level work may be considered.
