What you'll study

The BSN curriculum combines foundational sciences, nursing theory and hands-on clinical practice to prepare graduates for the NCLEX-RN and professional nursing roles. Core areas include anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, adult and geriatric nursing, maternal-child and paediatric nursing, mental health/psychiatric nursing, community and public health nursing, and leadership and management in nursing.

• Foundations and sciences: human anatomy & physiology, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition and lifespan development.
• Core nursing subjects: health assessment, clinical pharmacology, medical–surgical nursing, maternal–child health, paediatrics and psychiatric/mental health nursing.
• Evidence-based practice and research: nursing research methods, statistics, evidence-based practice and a capstone or practicum project focused on quality improvement or clinical inquiry.
• Leadership and administration: nursing management, healthcare systems, policy, informatics and finance for nursing leaders to support pathways into administration.
• Clinical experience and simulation: progressive, supervised clinical placements in hospitals, community settings and primary care, supported by high-fidelity simulation and interprofessional education with other health disciplines.

The programme typically sequences prerequisite coursework followed by upper-level nursing courses and supervised clinical rotations. Opportunities exist for involvement in faculty-led research, community outreach projects and specialised electives that support interests in research, administration or advanced clinical practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a high school diploma or equivalent, fulfil university general entry requirements and complete specified prerequisite courses before progression into the nursing major. Common prerequisites include human anatomy & physiology (often two semesters), microbiology, chemistry, statistics or college-level math, and English composition.

• Competitive academic record in prerequisite courses and overall GPA; admissions may consider curriculum rigour and improvement over time.
• Submission of official transcripts from all post‑secondary education if transferring; applicants with a prior degree may apply to accelerated or second-degree pathways where available.
• Proof of current immunisations, a background check and health clearance are required before clinical placements; most programmes also require basic life support (BLS) certification prior to clinicals.
• Some applicants may be required to attend an interview or provide a personal statement describing motivation for nursing and relevant experience.
