Assessment is by a mixture of written examinations, coursework and design reports, laboratory and simulation practicals, group design exercises and the final MSc dissertation. Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline (typically an upper second-class degree, or an international equivalent). Applicants should have a solid background in mathematics, mechanics and thermofluids, and be able to demonstrate relevant analytical and practical skills.
Selection is based on academic transcripts, references and personal statement. Candidates with appropriate industrial experience, or a lower classification supplemented by relevant experience or further study, may also be considered. Applicants whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence of English language proficiency.
