What you'll study

The programme blends engineering fundamentals with management disciplines to develop both technical judgement and business acumen. Typical modules cover engineering project and programme management, operations and supply chain management, systems engineering and integration, strategic management for engineers, and the commercial aspects of engineering such as finance and entrepreneurship. Research methods and data-driven decision making are taught to support the major individual dissertation or applied project that forms the capstone of the degree.

Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, seminars, case studies, group work and industry-based project supervision. Assessment commonly includes written assignments, reports, group presentations, examinations and a substantial research or consultancy dissertation focused on a real engineering management problem.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good undergraduate degree in an engineering, technology or closely related discipline. A UK upper second-class honours (2:1) or international equivalent is the typical requirement; applicants with relevant professional experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants whose first language is not English will need to meet the University's English language standard for postgraduate study; recognised qualifications such as IELTS or equivalent are accepted and any specific minimum scores are published by the University admissions team.
