What you'll study

The programme provides a broad grounding across the main branches of chemistry with an emphasis on laboratory competence and scientific reasoning. In the first year you will typically cover foundational topics such as general and inorganic chemistry, introductory organic chemistry, mathematics for chemists, physics and basic laboratory techniques. In later years the curriculum expands to physical chemistry (thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum concepts), analytical chemistry and instrumental methods (chromatography, spectroscopy), advanced organic and inorganic chemistry, biochemistry and materials chemistry.
