What you'll study

The LLB curriculum covers core areas of substantive and procedural law alongside practical skills development. Typical units include Introduction to Legal Systems, Contract Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Property Law, Evidence, Civil Procedure and Commercial/Corporations Law. Students also study professional practice topics such as Legal Research and Writing, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Advocacy and Mooting.

Program structure combines compulsory core subjects with elective options that allow specialisation in areas such as commercial law, family and child protection law, environmental and planning law, Indigenous legal issues, or dispute resolution. Strong emphasis is placed on practical learning: legal skills workshops, moot courts, negotiation simulations, client interviewing, and work-integrated learning or placement opportunities with firms, courts or community legal centres.

Entry requirements

Entry is open to applicants who meet Central Queensland University's undergraduate admission criteria. Typical entry pathways include completion of an Australian Year 12 qualification or an equivalent secondary credential, completion of a recognised tertiary qualification, or admission via alternative/mature-age entry routes. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's English language requirements.

Some applicants may be eligible for admission based on prior work experience or recognised prior learning (RPL). Where applicable, combined or double-degree pathways allow entry into linked programs with tailored admission criteria.
