Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as diagnostic radiographers and typically begin careers in NHS hospitals, independent hospitals and community imaging centres. Early roles include general diagnostic radiographer posts; with experience and further training graduates can specialise in CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional radiography or mammography.
Other career pathways include advanced clinical practice (reporting radiography), sonography, research, teaching and roles in equipment sales or clinical management. Some graduates pursue postgraduate study (MSc or clinical doctorate) to move into advanced practitioner, consultant radiographer or academic positions.
