What you'll study

The Leadership Studies degree combines core leadership theory with applied skills in communication, change management and ethical practice. You will study a mix of foundational courses and discipline-specific electives that reflect organisational, community and public-sector contexts.

• Core topics: foundations of leadership, leadership theory and practice, ethics and social responsibility, organisational behaviour, and leadership and diversity.
• Applied skills: strategic communication, conflict resolution and negotiation, project management, team facilitation, and decision-making under uncertainty.
• Research and analysis: research methods, programme evaluation, qualitative and quantitative analysis for leaders.
• Experiential learning: community-engaged projects, workplace placements or internships, practicums, and a capstone project that integrates coursework with a real-world leadership challenge.

Entry requirements

Applicants should meet the University of New Brunswick's general undergraduate admission standards. Typical applicants will hold a secondary-school diploma with a competitive average and a strong record in relevant subjects such as social studies, English and mathematics.

• Domestic applicants: successful admission is based on secondary-school academic performance and any faculty-specified prerequisites; mature applicants with relevant experience are also considered.
• International applicants: must demonstrate equivalent secondary credentials and meet the university's English-language proficiency requirements.
• Transfers and advanced standing: students with post-secondary credits may receive transfer credit where courses are equivalent; admission may also consider prior learning and professional experience for mature students.
