What you'll study

This integrated masters programme builds progressively from core human geography topics through to advanced theoretical and empirical work at masters level. In early years you study foundational subjects such as human geography theory, cultural and social geography, urban and rural change, introduction to qualitative and quantitative methods, and environmental geography. As you progress you take modules that develop specialist skills: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis, advanced quantitative methods, critical approaches to space and place, migration and mobility, political ecology, development and globalisation, and urban policy.

The integrated masters year emphasises independent research and synthesis. You will complete a substantial masters-level dissertation or major research project, alongside advanced option modules that may include applied GIS and remote sensing, participatory research methods, policy evaluation, and topics in health, housing or environmental governance.
