What you'll study

This taught master's combines core biomedical science modules with practical laboratory training and a substantial independent research project. Typical taught topics include molecular and cellular biology, immunology, advanced laboratory techniques, clinical biochemistry and haematology, and principles of disease mechanisms. Students also study research design, statistics and data analysis, and bioinformatics approaches relevant to modern biomedical research.

Laboratory training emphasises good laboratory practice, experimental design, aseptic technique, PCR and sequencing workflows, flow cytometry, western blotting, microscopy and sample handling for clinical assays. Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree in biomedical science, biology, biochemistry, medicine or a closely related subject. Candidates with a lower second-class honours degree and relevant laboratory or clinical experience may be considered. International applicants should demonstrate comparable academic qualifications and English language proficiency as required for postgraduate study at Keele.
