What you'll study

The Master of Theological Studies combines advanced coursework in core theological disciplines with a supervised research or capstone component. Typical study areas include biblical studies (Old and New Testament), systematic and constructive theology, church history, moral theology and ethics, pastoral theology and ministry practice, liturgy and spirituality, and theology in contemporary culture. You will also undertake research training, covering theological method, hermeneutics and qualitative research skills, and complete either a substantial research project or a minor thesis that integrates academic study with practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, religious studies or a related discipline, or a graduate diploma in theological studies. Applicants with a degree in another discipline may be considered subject to completing bridging subjects or demonstrating relevant professional or ministry experience. Entry typically requires academic transcripts, a statement of purpose outlining study and career objectives, and referee reports; some applicants may be invited to an interview.
