What you'll study

This Master of Public Health combines core public health concepts with practical skills in research, data analysis and programme design. You will study modules that typically cover epidemiology and biostatistics, research methods, health promotion and behaviour change, health systems and policy, global and environmental health, and health inequalities. The course emphasises applied learning through case studies, data projects and an independent dissertation or practice-based project where you address a real public health problem.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a UK honours degree (or recognised international equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as health, social science, biomedical science, life sciences or a closely related subject. A lower-class honours degree with relevant professional experience in health or social care may also be considered. Experienced practitioners from the NHS, local government, charities or the private sector who can demonstrate evidence of prior learning and professional background are welcome to apply.

Where English is not the applicant's first language, a recognised English language qualification is usually required. Applicants should consult the university's admissions guidance for the specific English language requirements and any acceptable alternative qualifications.
