What you'll study

The curriculum is a carefully structured blend of core and compulsory academic components in both law and Syariah law. Students are introduced to legal and Syariah concepts and principles that underpin Brunei’s legal system and complete professional and vocational subjects required for qualification on par with comparable LLB and BSL programmes regionally and internationally.

Entry requirements

• English: Grade C6 in GCE O Level English, or grade C in IGCSE English (as a Second Language), or IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL overall 550.
• GCE A Level / STPUB: Minimum 240 points for three A Level passes in relevant subjects (preferably Shariah) with at least grade C; or passed Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Ugama Brunei (STPUB) with average grade 'Jayyid Jiddan'.
• Diploma: BDQF Level 5 (HND / Foundation Degree / Advanced Diploma) or equivalent recognised by the University Senate, with at least Merit in five subjects relevant to the degree.
• International Baccalaureate: At least 28 points including minimum HL scores of 5, 5, 4 in relevant subjects.
• Mature applicants: At least three years' relevant work experience with 1 A Level, or five years' experience with 4 O Levels.
• Mode & duration: Full‑time, 5 years (maximum registration 7 years). Medium of instruction: English. Intakes: August and January.

Graduates are prepared for entry into legal and Syariah professions in Brunei, having covered the academic and vocational components necessary for legal practice alongside specialised Syariah training. The programme is aimed at those planning careers as advocates, legal advisors, Syariah practitioners, or other roles that require integrated knowledge of both systems.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Tuition fee is stated as BND 3,000 per year. Admission is competitive and subject to space; applicants should check faculty and university guidance on scholarships, fee assistance and any additional eligibility criteria. The university reserves the right to refuse incomplete or late applications and to require medical fitness certification or interviews where necessary.
