Program themes emphasized across courses include data analytics and assessment, program planning and evaluation, communication, health equity, community partnerships, environmental health sciences, management and administration, leadership and systems thinking, and biostatistical and epidemiological analysis. Students also receive instruction in grant writing, service-learning and project-based approaches, and have access to international study opportunities.

Entry requirements

Applications are submitted online and require an official transcript from the institution where the bachelor’s degree was earned. The program does not require GRE scores and lists no undergraduate course prerequisites. Priority application deadlines are provided on the program page.

Career prospects

The MPH prepares graduates for roles in health education, community health administration, program planning and evaluation, epidemiologic and biostatistical work, and other public health practice settings. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing CHES exam; Lynchburg reports a 100% CHES pass rate and states that 100% of its graduates are employed or pursuing further education.
