What you'll study

Students complete 30 total credit hours: an 18-hour core, 9 hours of advanced practice content, a 3-hour practicum and a 3-hour thesis. Core courses are:

• Research Design
• Racism: Beyond Black and White
• Allied Healthcare Administration
• Evidence-Based Practice
• Leadership & Advocacy in Policy and Healthcare
• Program Planning & Evaluation

Advanced practice content courses (9 hours) include:

• U.S. Healthcare Policy
• Ethical Healthcare Leadership
• Emergency Preparedness and Management

Program completion requires both an Advanced Clinical Practicum (3 hours) and a Thesis (3 hours). The capstone work is intended to address a real-world social justice issue in healthcare.

Entry requirements

Applicants must submit an online application with a 1–2 page personal essay, two letters of recommendation (professional or academic), a professional resume and official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions. A four-year degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher are required. International applicants and those without a bachelor’s degree face additional requirements. Applicants may be invited to a Zoom interview at the program chair’s discretion.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Antioch offers the President’s Merit Scholarship for eligible new master’s students (minimum prior GPA 3.40), awarded over the first two academic years for full-time enrollees and subject to satisfactory academic progress.
