A practice-focused MEd concentration that trains experienced teachers to design and deliver inquiry-driven, experiential STEAM learning. Suited to current K–12 educators or instructional leaders who want to integrate science, technology, engineering, arts and math into coherent, student-centered curricula while remaining employed.

What you'll study

Coursework focuses on implementing STEAM methodology in classroom practice, aligning pedagogical beliefs with day-to-day instruction, curriculum design, and assessment. Classes are delivered with small cohorts and include online conferencing, webinars and opportunities for real-time interaction. Students may opt into an optional summer residency featuring hands-on activities and community-based learning in Keene, NH.

Entry requirements

Applicants complete an online application with program essays, a resume/CV, and a non-refundable $50 application fee. Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions are required. Two professional or academic letters of recommendation (not from relatives) must be submitted. Selected applicants will interview with a faculty member in person, by phone, or via Skype. GRE or other standardized tests are not required. There are additional requirements for international applicants and for applicants without a bachelor’s degree.

Graduates are prepared to apply STEAM methodologies in K–12 classrooms and to take on instructional-design, curriculum-development, or leadership roles within schools and informal learning settings.
