A five-year combined program that lets students earn a bachelor’s degree plus an M.S. in Accounting by completing the undergraduate curriculum in four years and one year of graduate study. Suited to first-year entrants aiming for a direct, accelerated path to meet CPA-model educational expectations and enter public, corporate, or governmental accounting roles.

What you'll study

The program follows the undergraduate accounting curriculum through year four, then one year of MSA graduate coursework. Dual degree students may complete up to six graduate credits while still undergraduates; those credits count toward both degrees. Progression into the MSA requires successful completion of key undergraduate accounting courses.

  • Accounting 222
  • Accounting 331
  • Accounting 332
  • Accounting 401
  • Accounting 421

Entry requirements

Students apply to the dual degree as incoming freshmen and are admitted to the graduate program at the time of undergraduate admission. To matriculate into the MSA portion, dual degree students must either complete the bachelor’s degree or the listed accounting courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 while enrolled as undergraduates. Ongoing advisement and participation in college and accounting program activities support progression.

Career prospects

Graduates commonly receive job offers from Big Four and regional accounting firms, multinational corporations, and government agencies. Typical career destinations include:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA)
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • Tax accountant
  • Forensic accountant
  • Internal auditor
  • Cost accountant
  • Manager, financial accountant, governmental accountant, and accounting information systems manager

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

One direct financial advantage of the dual degree is that up to six graduate credits can be completed during undergraduate enrollment and are covered by undergraduate tuition, reducing the separate cost of those graduate credits. Students also benefit from faculty and adviser support that can help plan finances and progression; specific scholarships or funding options should be explored through admissions and graduate studies contacts.
