What you'll study

The curriculum builds foundation and applied skills in nutrition science, clinical practice, community health and evidence-based care. Coursework and supervised practice connect classroom learning with professional settings across hospitals, community health and food service. Up to 12 graduate credits taken during the senior year may apply to both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, shortening the time to complete the master’s.

Entry requirements

The dual pathway is open to students in any undergraduate major who complete the program prerequisites and meet progression requirements. Prospective first-year applicants use the Common Application and may elect the dual pathway alongside their undergraduate major. Minimum criteria for incoming freshmen include a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, strong preparation in math and science coursework, and demonstrated interest in health and nutrition fields. Admitted dual-degree undergraduates must continue to meet program-specific criteria to progress into the master’s portion.

Career prospects

The programme prepares graduates for eligibility to pursue the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential, which many hospitals and medical employers require or prefer. Career pathways cited include clinical nutrition, community and public health nutrition, food and nutrition management, wellness and health promotion, long-term care and skilled nursing, health care systems and hospitals, medical nutrition therapy, corporate wellness, and nutrition education and counseling.

Scholarships & funding angle

Participation in the 4+1 dual degree can reduce overall time to a graduate credential and may lower total tuition compared with pursuing separate undergraduate and graduate programs. Dual degree students also benefit from academic advising and campus resources while undergraduates, and they secure a reserved place in the master’s program so they do not need last‑minute graduate applications.
