Entry requirements

Students enter the dual-degree pathway as undergraduates and must meet progression rules to enroll in the MA. Specific criteria to progress include:

• Successful completion of the bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• A minimum grade of B in any graduate-level courses taken while an undergraduate.
• Submission of a two-page personal statement addressing: why you are applying to the JMP program at Sacred Heart University; your journalistic and/or media production goals; and the issues or subjects you wish to explore in the program.

Career prospects

The program prepares graduates for roles in on-camera and behind-the-camera news and production work. Typical career paths identified by the department include broadcast journalism, photojournalism, videography, documentary filmmaking, live television production, media production and post-production editing, and commercial photography.
