What you'll study

The BS requires 36 credits in the major (30 credits of core courses and 6 credits of electives) within a 120-credit degree. Core topics and course examples include:

• PBHL 1100: Healthy U (3 credits, 7 weeks) — adult-focused health management including mental health, chronic disease management, sexuality, caregiving and end-of-life issues.
• BIO 1200: Human Biology (4 credits, 7 weeks) — foundations of human biology and research methods covering chemistry of living organisms, cell and organ systems, homeostasis, evolution, genetics, biotechnology, bioethics and laboratory exercises in anatomy and physiology.
• MATH 1300: Elementary Statistics (3 credits, 7 weeks) — statistical concepts and applications (course listed as a program prerequisite).

Additional coursework addresses nutrition, human disease, substance abuse from a biopsychosocial perspective, human sexuality, health information technology for healthcare, education and research, the relationship between culture and health, and locating valid sources of health and disease information.

Entry requirements

Admission requires a completed online application and a $50 application fee, official transcripts from all previously attended institutions (or high school transcript if no prior college), and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must generally be four years post–high school, or two years post–high school with 60 or more college credits to enroll; WP Online accelerated programs require applicants to be at least two years post–high school.
