A four-year undergraduate honours programme in computer science offered by the School of Digital Science. It provides route options in core computing areas such as AI, data science, cybersecurity, software systems and intelligent robotics, and is aimed at students with strong mathematics and science backgrounds who want technical and applied computing skills.

What you'll study

Students follow a computer science curriculum with options to major in one of the listed areas. The explicitly stated majors are:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Data Science
  • Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics
  • Software Systems
  • Intelligent Robotics

Entry requirements

General English requirement: at least Credit C6 in GCE O Level English; or grade B in IGCSE English as a Second Language; or IELTS 6.0; or TOEFL paper-based score of 550; or Band B2 in the UBD English Proficiency Test.

Academic qualifications:

  • GCE A Level: minimum UCAS-equivalent points — pre-2017 tariff: 180 points for two A Level passes or 220 points for three passes in relevant science and computing subjects, including A Level Mathematics at least grade C. Current UCAS tariff: 72 points for two A Level passes or 88 points for three A Level passes, with one pass in A Level Mathematics at least grade C.
  • International Baccalaureate: minimum overall 26 points with at least two higher-level science subjects scoring minimum 5 points each, one of which must be Mathematics.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): at least five distinctions in core modules in a computer-science-related HND (excluding Communication skills), one of which must be Mathematics, plus passing an entrance examination.

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee admission; selection is competitive and places are limited.

Career prospects

The programme is positioned to prepare graduates for technical roles across computing disciplines aligned to the offered majors (for example roles in AI, data analysis, cybersecurity, software development and robotics). The university also links to career services and opportunities, but no specific job titles or employment statistics are provided on the programme page.

Scholarships & funding angle

Information on fees and funding is referenced by the university; prospective students should consult UBD’s Fees & Funding and Scholarships pages for applicable scholarships, financial support and eligibility rules as the programme page does not list specific funding awards.
