An accelerated honours BScN pathway designed for Registered/Practical Nurses to complete a four‑year honours degree in three years and four months. Suited to practising RPNs or practical nursing diploma holders seeking the theoretical, clinical and leadership preparation required for RN entry‑to‑practice in Ontario.
Students progress from foundational to complex nursing knowledge and practice. Learning formats include academic lectures, hands‑on skills labs and high‑fidelity simulation, plus supervised clinical experiences with individuals, families, communities and populations.
This pathway is specifically for practical nursing/RPN applicants. The program page identifies it as a pathway for Registered Practical Nurses and practical nursing diploma holders; applicants should consult the college for full admissions detail and forthcoming schedule information. Note: applications for Fall 2027 will open in Fall 2026.
Graduates meet entry‑to‑practice competencies set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and may pursue roles as Registered Nurses in hospitals, community health agencies, long‑term care and other healthcare settings. The program also prepares students for roles involving advocacy, leadership, policy and health service design.
Students should explore institutional scholarships, bursaries and external awards for nursing students; confirm financial supports and eligibility with Algonquin College. Also note the program listing indicates it is not eligible for a Post‑Graduation Work Permit under current published information.
