Cost & earnings at Indian River State College What students borrow here, and what they go on to earn
A technical certificate teaching medical coding systems, billing procedures and related clinical foundations. Suited to students seeking entry into health information roles or remote coding positions and to those aiming to sit for national coding certifications.
The programme is offered as a Technical Certificate with an application window noted (January 11, 2027 through May 17, 2027) and a Summer B (June) start. Student eligibility to apply to sit for the CCA exam includes possession of a valid form of identification; the college directs students to the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) website to confirm eligibility. The college cautions that graduates who move outside Florida or to non-compact states should verify state-specific certification or licensure requirements with the appropriate state department.
Graduates are prepared for roles such as medical record coder, coding technician or coding clerk and may find work in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, clinics, physician offices or government agencies. Many coding positions are offered remotely or in hybrid arrangements. The certificate can also serve as a stepping stone toward roles in auditing, compliance or health information management.
Indian River State College provides information on financial aid, tuition and fees and promotes resources to help make the programme affordable.
