FieldHealth Sciences

A hybrid diploma program that trains students in both administrative and clinical medical-assisting tasks, delivered with online lectures and on-campus labs. Suited to learners who want a hands-on allied health role quickly and who can commit to asynchronous study plus scheduled lab and externship days.

What you'll study

Instruction combines asynchronous online coursework with hands-on lab practice. Students will spend approximately 25–30 hours per week on instruction, labs, activities, readings and homework. Course content emphasizes both administrative tasks—patient greeting, appointment scheduling, recordkeeping and billing—and clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination and performing basic laboratory procedures. Teaching is delivered by instructors with prior field experience and training uses medical facilities, equipment and instruments modelled on real workplaces.

Entry requirements

The published course text does not list specific academic prerequisites. Students apply through YTI’s online admissions portal and are supported by admissions staff; the first week of classes includes orientation to the online systems.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to work as part of medical teams performing administrative and clinical support duties; the ten-week externship provides on-the-job experience intended to develop practical skills. Career Services offers job-search support, resume and cover-letter help, and interview preparation, although employment is not guaranteed.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. YTI’s Educational Funding Specialists assist students in determining eligibility for federal, institutional and private programs, as well as potential grants and scholarships to help pay for training.
