What you'll study

The degree combines an interdisciplinary core, a professional core, and a senior capstone. Core elements listed in the program materials include:

• Interdisciplinary Core (15 semester credits): Empowering Your Purpose and Voice; Experience and Expression; Reading and Writing in the 21st Century; Culture, Conflict and Social Research; Ecology, Technology & Society.
• Professional Core Curriculum (36 semester credits): Caring for the Aging; Child and Adolescent Development; Adult Development; Behavioral Physiology; Dying As a Stage of Life; Contemporary Family Patterns; Lives in Transition; Ecology of Human Development; Human Services Systems and Grants; Issues of Poverty and Hunger in the US; Econ, Politics & Access in Healthcare; Gender & Multicultural Issues in Health Care.
• Capstone (3 semester credits): Senior Project.

Entry requirements

Applicants need at least 24 semester credits of transferable undergraduate work from a regionally accredited institution. Materials include a goal statement and two letters of recommendation if requested. A formal transcript evaluation of transfer credits begins during admission; Antioch accepts a maximum of 80 semester lower-division credits (120 quarter/80 semester) and up to 90 semester credits (135 quarter) of combined lower- and upper-division transfer credit in some cases. Students may also earn up to 30 semester credits for prior learning. All application materials are submitted to Antioch University Admissions.
