What you'll study

Coursework expands practical knowledge into conceptual and contextual understanding of a chosen field. Key curricular elements specified by the program include:

• Completion of program-specific learning goals and curriculum for the major.
• Foundational courses to establish context and the academic skills needed for progression.
• At least nine credits directly related to the student’s degree focus.
• Sixty or more upper-division credits (most Antioch courses are upper-division).
• Eight credits of experiential, non-classroom learning such as internships, self-directed independent study, or credit for prior learning to link academics with real-world application.
• Six credits of interdisciplinary, hybrid seminars addressing topics like leadership, business communications, cultural contexts, justice and equity, or technology in society.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 semester credits (36 quarter credits) to be eligible. The program requires a total of 180–200 quarter credits to graduate. Students must complete at least 30 semester (45 quarter) credits through Antioch toward Applied Studies degree requirements. Admission materials include official transcripts (unofficial accepted to start review), an admissions essay following strict formatting and content instructions, and possible fee payment or waiver. Quarter start dates and final application deadlines are published (examples: Spring application deadline March 15 for March 31 classes; Fall deadline September 15 for September 30 classes).

Career prospects

Graduates use the degree to advance within their trade or move into supervisory, managerial, or broader professional roles. The program is intended to help professionals in areas such as design, hospitality, culinary arts, auto mechanics, and medical trades apply critical thinking and leadership skills to career advancement or new opportunities.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Antioch accepts transfer credit (see limits below) and awards prior-learning credit to accelerate degree completion and reduce tuition. Transfer policy highlights: a maximum of 120 quarter (80 semester) lower-division credits may be transferred; up to 135 quarter (90 semester) credits of lower- and upper-division learning may be accepted in total. Students may earn up to 45 quarter credits (30 semester) for demonstrated college-level learning from work, training, military, or other experiences. Tuition guidance includes a listed price per quarter credit ($535) and enrollment status definitions (12–15 credits full time; 9–11 three-quarters time; 6–8 half-time). Bachelor's students must be enrolled at least half-time to receive financial aid; Antioch provides a free unofficial transcript evaluation to estimate time-to-degree.
