The programme composition includes a minimum of 40 credits in General Education and 48 academic credits specifically in Ancient History. Courses are studied through independent study and written assessments. Each listed subject is worth 3 academic credits. Sample course subjects include:

Additional subjects may be selected from the Faculty of Arts & Humanities (for example: American History, Cultural Anthropology, History of the Middle East, Human Evolution, Museum Exhibitions & Operations, The Renaissance & The Baroque), subject to approval by the Distance Learning University Education Board. Textbooks for the course are provided with the fees and required reports must be written in English unless authorization for another language is granted.

Entry requirements

Admission is open to adults over 23 years of age. A minimum of 30% of the total credits required by the programme must be transferred from previous education and/or validated from professional experience to gain admission. A maximum of 20% of total programme credits may be credited from professional and life experience. General education minimum requirements are 40 credits, which may be met by transfer.

Career prospects

Learning outcomes align with EQF descriptors: students develop specialized knowledge and comprehension through extensive reading and report writing (EQF level 4) and apply knowledge to problem solving and case analysis in written assignments (EQF level 5). These outcomes strengthen analytical, research and written-communication skills valued in cultural heritage, museums, education, publishing and related sectors that require historical interpretation and project reporting.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Fees cover the study programme, textbooks, study guide, evaluation and assessment, diploma and transcript. Cost information provided by the programme: 70 Euros (90 US$) per BIU earned undergraduate credit; transferred credits may be charged at 20 Euros (25 US$) per credit. Total tuition for the 130-credit programme is indicated within a range and payment plans of up to 36 monthly installments are available on request.
