The curriculum concentrates on the full systems analysis and design domain. Core topics are delivered as independent continuing-education courses (each subject = 3 academic credits). Subjects listed in the programme include:

Additional optional or approved subjects may be selected from other Faculty of Computer Science modules, examples given include Analog Circuit Design, Artificial Intelligence, Database Management, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Web Design & Programming and others. The programme provides the required textbooks as part of the fee; reports and projects form the BIU-earned credits.

Entry requirements

Admission is open to adults over 23 years of age. The degree requires 130 BIU academic credits, with a general-education minimum of 40 credits (these may be transferred from prior study or validated from professional experience). At least 30% of total programme credits must be transferred from previous education and/or validated professional experience for admission; no more than 20% of total credits may be awarded solely for professional and life experience.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles that analyse organisational information problems and design systems to integrate people, methods and technology. Typical, realistic outcomes include positions that design data capture and flow, specify processing and storage, and ensure delivery of timely information to business users—functions commonly associated with systems analysts, systems designers and related IT analyst roles.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Fees include the study programme, textbooks, study guide, assessment, diploma and transcript. BIUs published rates are 20 per transferred credit (professional experience/previous education) and 70 per BIU-earned undergraduate credit; the programme total ranges between a stated minimum of 3,510 Euros and a maximum of 6,800 Euros. Textbooks are sent after fee payment (two to five weeks typical). Payment plans up to 36 monthly instalments are available on request; Bircham also recognises transferred credits and may validate professional experience to reduce coursework and cost.
