Programme overview

This Bachelor of Science in Chemistry provides a comprehensive study of chemical principles combined with advanced coursework in mathematics and physics. The curriculum is intended to prepare students for graduate-level work in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine and related interdisciplinary fields, and to equip graduates for a variety of industrial, governmental and educational roles. What you'll study

Coursework covers core chemical disciplines and laboratory practice, with an emphasis on analytical instrumentation and problem-solving techniques. Specific areas include:

• General, organic, inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry through both lecture and hands-on laboratory experiences
• Analytical instrumentation and identification tools such as UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometers, GC-MS and LC-MS mass spectrometry, and NMR spectrometers
• Application of mathematics and physics to chemical problems
• Research experience (students are required to complete 2 credits of research conducted with chemistry faculty)

Entry requirements

The program requires completion of 52 hours of degree coursework for graduation, consisting of a minimum of 35 hours in chemistry and 17 hours of cognate (prerequisite) courses.
