What you'll study

Coursework emphasizes hands-on GIS mapping and analysis together with geography and statistics. Faculty from History, Geology and Biology deliver applied projects that address common geographic problems. Elective options let students connect GIS skills with computer science, graphic design, marketing or political science. The program also includes either a required internship or, with approval from the GIS Director, a capstone research project demonstrating use of GIS.

Entry requirements

The program accepts AP credit in geography: a score of 4 on AP Human Geography grants credit for HIST 220. The minor requires completion of an internship or an approved capstone project; other specific admission or course prerequisites are handled by the department.
