Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Non‑U.S. citizens must demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL or equivalent). The application packet includes an online form, transcripts, three letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, a résumé, and optional GRE scores. Interviews with faculty are required; international candidates may conduct them virtually.

Career prospects

Graduates become licensed school counselors and often advance to lead positions or district program directors. The program also supports an accelerated path that allows Marquette undergraduates to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years, enrolling in graduate courses during their junior and senior years.

Scholarships & funding angle

Students may qualify for federal MHSP Grant scholarships aimed at serving high‑need schools, as well as Milwaukee Area Teachers and Catholic Schools scholarships for local K‑12 teachers.
