What you'll study

The curriculum combines foundational sciences, nursing theory, clinical practice and applied research to build competence across medical‑surgical, community, maternal‑child, paediatric and mental health care. Early coursework typically covers anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, health assessment and communication skills. Core nursing modules emphasise clinical reasoning, evidence‑based practice, patient safety and ethics.

Entry requirements

Admission routes include a traditional pre‑licensure BSN track for school leavers and a pathway for licensed RNs seeking a BSN. Applicants to the pre‑licensure programme are expected to hold a secondary school diploma or equivalent and to have completed prerequisite science and general education courses. Typical prerequisites include biology, chemistry, anatomy & physiology, mathematics and English composition.

Selection is competitive and commonly considers cumulative GPA, prerequisite course grades and a demonstration of relevant experience or motivation for nursing. Accepted applicants must complete health requirements such as immunisations, CPR certification, background checks and may be required to meet technical standards for clinical practice. For RN‑to‑BSN applicants, a current nursing licence and official transcripts from prior nursing education are required.

Career prospects

Graduates are eligible to sit for the national licensure examination for registered nurses and typically enter roles in hospitals, community health, primary care, long‑term care and outpatient services. With additional experience or postgraduate study, alumni progress into positions such as clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager, nurse educator, nurse researcher, quality improvement lead or public health nurse.
