What you'll study

This programme develops advanced understanding of international macroeconomics, trade theory and policy, and quantitative methods used to analyse cross-border flows of goods, services, capital and labour. Teaching balances formal theoretical modules with empirical work using micro- and macroeconometric techniques.

• Quantitative methods: applied econometrics, time-series analysis, panel data methods and techniques for causal inference used on cross-country and firm-level datasets.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a strong undergraduate degree (equivalent to a UK upper second-class honours, 2:1, or higher) in economics, econometrics, mathematics, statistics or a closely related discipline. Demonstrable training in calculus, linear algebra and core economic theory and an intermediate-level course in econometrics or statistics is typically required.

Where applicants come from different disciplinary backgrounds, relevant quantitative preparation through additional coursework or professional experience may be considered. International applicants must meet standard English language requirements as set by the university.
