What you'll study

This degree integrates core economics — microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics — with management modules covering organisational behaviour, strategy, marketing and accounting. In early years you build a strong quantitative foundation through modules in mathematics for economists and statistical methods, giving the tools to analyse data and model economic problems.

• Year 1–2 core topics: introductory micro and macro theory, introductory econometrics and statistics, mathematics for economics, principles of management, accounting fundamentals and marketing basics.
• Intermediate topics: intermediate micro and macro, applied econometrics, corporate finance, operations and supply-chain management, organisational behaviour and managerial decision-making.
• Final year: advanced electives such as game theory, labour economics, public economics, behavioural economics, advanced econometrics, strategic management and entrepreneurship, plus a substantial independent project (dissertation) or a consultancy-style project.
• Optional features: opportunities to take work placements, short-term study abroad, or industry-linked projects; elective modules allow you to tailor the course towards economics-heavy or management-heavy pathways.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to have strong academic qualifications with a sound background in quantitative subjects. Typical applicants include those with A-levels (or equivalent), and you are likely to be most competitive if you have studied mathematics at A-level or an equivalent quantitative qualification.

• Mathematical proficiency is important: applicants without A-level mathematics should demonstrate equivalent ability through other qualifications or prior study.
• The programme welcomes applicants with a range of UK and international qualifications (International Baccalaureate, European and non‑EU qualifications); contextual or foundation pathways and mature applicant routes are also considered.
• Admissions also take account of personal statements, references, and any relevant practical experience; some applicants may be invited to interview.

Career prospects

Graduates leave with strong analytical, quantitative and management skills sought by employers. Common career destinations include roles in finance (such as investment banking, risk analysis and corporate finance), management consulting, public policy and economic analysis, data analytics and market research, and graduate management training schemes.

Many students also progress to postgraduate study in economics, finance, management or specialised masters programmes (for example in econometrics or business analytics), or pursue doctoral research if interested in academic careers.
