Applicants are normally required to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification. Massey considers applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds; those without direct agriculture experience but with relevant work experience or complementary study may also be considered. Evidence of quantitative competence (for example prior study in science or maths) can be beneficial because several papers include statistics and farm budgeting.

International applicants must meet Massey’s English language requirements.
