What you'll study

The programme is studio-led, with a focus on design projects that increase in complexity across the course. You will study architectural design and representation, architectural history and theory, building technology and construction, environmental and sustainable design, structural principles, digital design and modelling (including BIM and parametric tools), and professional practice.

Typical module themes include design studios (context-led and speculative projects), construction and materials, environmental performance and sustainability, structures and engineering fundamentals, history and theory of architecture, digital fabrication and modelling, and research methods. Teaching methods combine design tutorials, lectures, technical workshops, site visits, critiques and group projects. Assessment is usually by design portfolio, technical reports, presentations and written assignments.

The course is structured to develop a professional portfolio for progression to the next stage of architectural training. Options or short placements may be available to gain practical experience in practice and there are opportunities for collaborative live projects with local communities and industry partners.
