What you'll study

The programme combines foundational plant science with practical training in crop production and plant protection. Course work covers plant physiology, crop science and agronomy, soil science and fertility management, irrigation and water management, and principles of horticulture and greenhouse production.

Plant protection components include plant pathology, entomology, weed science, integrated pest management (IPM), pesticide science and phytosanitary measures. Students also study plant breeding and genetics, seed technology, post-harvest handling, and principles of agricultural extension and farm management.

Practical learning is emphasised through laboratory classes, controlled-environment trials and field-based training on experimental farms.
