What you'll study

The programme combines core engineering science and mathematics with management, operations and data-analytics subjects. In the early years you take foundational courses in calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, physics and basic engineering principles. Core management-engineering topics include operations research, production and inventory systems, supply chain management, production planning, quality engineering, systems modelling and optimisation.

Admission is typically based on a strong secondary-school record with emphasis on mathematics and quantitative subjects. Typical academic preparation includes:

• A-levels: Mathematics (or Further Mathematics) and at least one science (physics or chemistry) or equivalent;
• International Baccalaureate: Higher Level mathematics and a science or quantitative subject;
• US high-school: strong performance in calculus, algebra II/trigonometry and physics; Advanced Placement or IB honours courses in maths, physics or computer science are advantageous;
• Solid foundation in algebra, trigonometry and problem-solving; prior exposure to programming and statistics is recommended but not mandatory.

Other factors considered in admission include letters of recommendation, personal statements, interview or portfolio of project work where available. English language proficiency is required for non-native speakers.
