What you'll study

Coursework and training focus on connecting contemporary theory and research to classroom practice, building disciplinary and general-education knowledge, and developing practical teaching skills via a range of field experiences. Programs prepare candidates to create nurturing, responsive learning environments.

• Degree pathways available include: Early Childhood & Students with Disabilities (M.S., Birth–2nd grade, advanced certification only); Elementary Education & Students with Disabilities (initial certification, Grades 1–6); and Adolescent/Students with Disabilities (initial certification, Grades 7–12).
• Secondary-content areas listed for adolescent programs include: Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, and Spanish.
• All graduate programs are delivered as one‑year cohort programs; current undergraduates may pursue a 4+1 pathway into the master’s programs.

Scholarships & funding angle

Wagner participates in the Empire State Teacher Residency partnership with the New York State Department of Labor for a July 2024 cohort, offering a $30,000 annual stipend to candidates in a one‑year graduate 7–12 Adolescent & Students with Disabilities residency that includes 1,000 hours of clinical experience.
