What you'll study

The program blends general education, College of Technology core coursework and specialized Organizational Leadership and Supervision (OLS) classes. Study progresses from foundational self-leadership and human relations to applied topics in training, creativity, risk and safety, and culminates in a senior capstone project.

• Year One — fundamentals: sample courses include OLS 16300 Fundamentals of Self-Leadership and OLS 25200 Human Relations in Organizations.
• Year Two — applied skills: sample courses include OLS 37500 Training Methods and OLS 35000 Creativity in Business and Industry.
• Year Three — risk, safety and policy: sample courses include OLS 33600 Fundamentals of Risk Assessment and Management and OLS 42100 Psychology and Sociology of Safety.
• Year Four — synthesis and application: sample courses include OLS 47400 Conference Leadership and OLS 49700 Senior Project (capstone).

Entry requirements

Admissions guidance lists multiple RSAT/ACT and five-subject GPA combinations: RSAT 980 or ACT 19 with a five-subject GPA of 2.0; RSAT 930–979 or ACT 17–18 with a five-subject GPA of 2.5; RSAT 840–929 or ACT 16 with a five-subject GPA of 2.5 (this last option requires department chair approval). The five-subject GPA covers English, math, science, history and foreign language.

Career prospects

The program prepares graduates for supervisory and management roles across public and private organizations. Typical documented outcomes include positions such as project manager, production supervisor, human-resource specialist, operations manager, project scheduler, talent-acquisition supervisor and executive roles like corporate president or CEO. Employers noted by the program include NIPSCO/NiSource, Gariup Construction, British Petroleum (BP) and United Parcel Service (UPS).

Scholarships & funding angle

Students in the organizational leadership and supervision concentration may apply for general PNW scholarships as well as program-specific awards such as the Charles E. Miller Memorial, Jerome Hyndman Scholarship and PNW Haas Foundation College of Technology Scholarship.
