Best suited to experienced teachers, university faculty, and educational leaders who want to reframe problems, deepen inquiry, and pursue systemic change in teaching, leadership, or justice-related work.
Coursework combines transdisciplinary theory and applied inquiry into teaching, learning, leadership, freedom, and responsibility. Examples of courses listed in the program include:
Application components include a completed online application with essay questions, a resume/CV, a non-refundable $50 application fee, and official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended (to be emailed or mailed to the Office of Admissions). Two letters of recommendation from professional or academic evaluators are required (not a relative). Selected applicants will be interviewed by a faculty member in person, by phone, or via Skype. GRE or other standardized tests are not required. There are additional requirements for international applicants and for applicants without a bachelor's degree. The program posts term application deadlines (Summer: April 15; Fall: August 1; Spring: December 1).
The concentration is intended for practicing teachers, university faculty, educational leaders, and administrators and is relevant to roles in teaching, school leadership, social and environmental justice education, and related fields. Graduates report shifts in classroom practice, renewed professional purpose, and capacities for reflective practice, collaborative change-making, and leading learning-centered approaches in varied educational contexts.
Antioch University New England provides general tuition and financial aid guidance for prospective students; specific tuition figures are available through the university. The education programs offer a 10% tuition discount for groups of three or more students from the same school or district who enroll in any AUNE Education MEd or certificate programs concurrently (subject to conditions and limitations).
