What you'll study

The course uses a case-based approach taught through three integrated strands: applied theory, nursing simulation and action learning, and nursing practice. Learning takes place in university specialist facilities and partner clinical settings. Key learning features and resources include:

• 2,300 hours of clinical placements with NHS trusts and other local health and social care partners, including hospice services, primary care, the prison service, nursing homes and private providers.
• A nursing simulation suite with a six‑bed ward, GP consulting room, treatment room, care‑home bedroom and simulation mannequins.
• Access to nutrition laboratories and biomedical science laboratories to support applied learning.
• Teaching delivered by registered nurses, clinical educators from partner NHS trusts and academic staff with practice or research experience.

Entry requirements

Standard entry is via UCAS; the published tariff range is 104–120 UCAS points. Flexible entry routes are available and applicants without relevant qualifications or experience can progress via the health, sport and social sciences foundation year.

Career prospects

Graduates are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and typically work as adult registered nurses in primary, acute or community settings in the UK and overseas. Employment destinations referenced by the programme include NHS trusts, private healthcare, charity/aid organisations, the armed forces and the prison service. With experience, nurses may move into advanced practice (including non‑medical prescribing), nurse education, charge or lead nursing roles, consultant nursing, and health and social care management.
